The current post-Baroque building was constructed between 1815 and 1819, preserving the early Gothic chancel tower from the late 13th century. The interior is post-Baroque in style. A Roman tombstone from Zgornje Dovže is built into the church wall, and behind the church stand the gravestones of former owners of the Mislinja manor.

As the name implies, it runs along a (now disused) railway track which is referred to as Štreka by the locals. The railway path is set through Huda luknja gorge and against the scenic backdrop of the Pohorje mountains and Mt Uršlja Gora, featuring some of the country's best bike infrastructure.
